Welcome to La Madelene : Rhone Wine Holidays

Location

La Madelène

is located between the villages of Malaucène and Entrechaux, 5 minutes by car from either. We are 10 minutes to the south of the ancient Roman town of Vaison-La-Romaine; 30 minutes from the major towns of Orange and Carpentras; and 45 minutes from the beautiful city of Avignon with it`s Papal palace, pont Saint- Benezet, and quality shopping.

The property is situated in the foothills of Mont Ventoux at an elevation of c. 350m which helps temper the fierce Provencal summer heat. Just to the west are the beautiful Dentelles de Montmirail - these stunning limestone crags lead on to the escarpment that embraces some of the southern Rhone Valleys finest Cru and Villages level wines and the most attractive of villages including Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise and Vacqueras.

Options for arriving in Provence:

There are a wide range of possibilities for arriving in the Vaucluse:

From the UK

By Air:

To Nimes airport - Ryanair from East Midlands, Liverpool and Luton (100 kms , 1:15 mins driving time to La Madelène), to Marseilles airport – Bmi baby or easyjet (110 kms , 1:15 mins driving time to La Madelène) and to Avignon airport - served by Fly-be services from Southampton UK (40 kms- 50 mins)

By Train:

Eurostar direct London Waterloo - Avignon Centre (summer months) or London Waterloo or Ashford to Paris or Lille for a connection to Avignon TGV or Avignon Centre or Orange.
If necessary, the most time efficient and cost effective way to cross Paris is by the RER metro

By Road:

A7 Route du Soleil – take the Bollene exit if travelling from the north and follow the signs for Vaison La Romaine/Malaucène. From the south take the Orange exit and head for Carpentras, then Malaucène, direction Vaison.

Find your way to the village of Malaucène via the D938 from Carpentras (travelling north) or from Vaison-La-Romaine (if you are travelling south). At the northern end of the wide café-lined boulevard (the Cours d'Isnard) that dominates the village of Malaucène you will find a turning onto the D242 signposted to Hameau de Vaux.

Take this road for 2 kilometres until you see a small signpost on the left marked Entrechaux. Turn left onto this road and after a bend you will come to a small bridge. Do not turn left after the bridge but continue up and over an incline with olive groves to your right. Coming down the other side watch carefully for the La Madelène sign beside an enormous oak tree directing you down the driveway to the house. If you have reached the caveau of Domaine de Champ Long, sorry but you've over shot! Turn around and look for the La Madelène turning this time on your right.
