About Us
We are Philip and Jude Reddaway. We set up La Madelène Rhone Wine Holidays in order to realise our dream to work and live in a place we had come to love.
Philip
worked for many years as director of a global media company in London but his passionate interest in wine eventually led to him giving up his media career in order to persue a new vocation in wine tourism and education. After three years studying at the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust he holds a WSET diploma, is qualified as an AIWS (Associate of the Institute of Wine and Spirits) and is a WSET approved wine instructor. He ran a number of successful wine courses in Brighton and London before moving to France.Jude's
knowledge of wine is less technical but she will devote herself to making your wine course into a memorable holiday. She had a more varied career, but basically stopped teaching law at a University in order to learn about carpentry and building - essential skills for our new life! She has worked hard to transform the old priory into a welcoming home." Wine appreciation is more than a question of understanding the nuances between grape variety, vintage and producer. If that were all there were to it, wine would be just another agricultural product. For me the true romance of wine lies in discovering the history; the traditions ; the personalities; and above all the fascinating stories that lie behind what we have in our glass. I aim to capture this spirit in my wine courses "
